Departure and Route
We depart no later than 9:30 AM from Marina di Punta Asfodeli in the Gulf of Cugnana, skirting the famous Romazzino Beach and the Li Nibani islands, a group of granite islets and rocks emerging from the waters of the Costa Smeralda. We pass through the Gulf of Pevero, brush the tip of Caprera, and head straight to Lavezzi, leaving the islands of Santa Maria, Razzoli, and Budelli to our left.
Lavezzi Island
After about an hour and twenty minutes, we reach Lavezzi, located southeast of Corsica. This little-known natural paradise offers pastel-colored granite sculpted by wind and waves, creating an idyllic escape from civilization.
Lavezzi is renowned for its pristine, fine-sand beaches adorned with uniquely shaped rocks. Swim in Polynesian-clear waters with shallow depths suitable for children and less experienced swimmers. The island's waters feature a palette ranging from green to blue to light azure, creating a vivid display of colors.
Lavezzi's history includes the 1855 shipwreck of the French frigate Sémillante, commemorated by a monumental cemetery, and a lighthouse built following the tragic event. Among the island's beautiful beaches are Cala Lazzarina, Cala di u Grecu, Cala di Ghiuncu, Cala di u Lioni, and Cala della Chiesa, a sheltered bay inaccessible to boats due to large rocks.
Lavezzi's underwater world, a marine reserve for years, offers a unique diving experience to encounter the friendly brown grouper fish, with Mérouville, "the city of groupers," being a popular diving spot.
Isola Piana
After exploring Lavezzi, we set off towards our next stop: the stunning Isola Piana, just ten minutes away. This island is the closest to the mainland, separated by a mere 300 meters of walkable sandy stretch.
Take a break in this idyllic atoll with its shallow, clear waters and reconnect with nature. Enjoy a packed lunch here if you wish to stay longer, and spend the afternoon swimming and relaxing in peace.
Bonifacio
For those interested in exploring a medieval citadel, Bonifacio is just 15 minutes away by boat. On the way, admire the breathtaking Cliffs of Bonifacio and numerous caves decorating the coast before docking at Bonifacio.
The fortified town, perched on white limestone cliffs 70 meters high, offers a stunning view of the Strait of Bonifacio. Divided into the upper and lower city, Bonifacio features narrow alleys, picturesque squares, and charming cafés and brasseries.
Enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants scattered throughout the city. For a special dining experience, La Caravelle offers gourmet seafood cuisine in a renowned and exclusive setting.
Return Journey
After lunch, indulge in a delicious Nutella crepe, take a final look at the city, and board the boat around 4:30 PM for the return to Punta Asfodeli. Retrace our route back, reflecting on the day's experiences with the sun still on your skin and the scent of the sea in your nostrils.
